Wise Words
"Blessed are they who have the gift of making friends,
for it is one of God's best gifts. It involves many things,
but above all, the power of going out of one's self, and
appreciating whatever is noble and loving in another."
- Thomas Huges
"There is only one real deprivation, I decided this
morning, and that is not to be able to give one's gifts to
those one loves most."
- May Sarton

Bellisse® Exhibits At Oncology Nurses Society Conference |
 |
|
Bellisse® was proud to be an exhibitor for the first time
at the Oncology Nursing Society Clinical Conference in
November 2003. Speakers at the conference
emphasized the importance of compression in the
treatment of lymphedema in all areas of the body,
including the chest and trunk. Conference attendees
who visited the Bellisse® booth were delighted to learn
that there is finally a comfortable, attractive product
designed to provide such compression!
Look for us at the 29th Annual Oncology Nursing
Society's Congress in Anaheim, CA April 29 - May
2,
2004.

Bellisse® Sponsors Free Mammograms |
 |
|
Bellisse® is proud to help provide free mammograms to
women in need through the Breast Cancer Site
(www.thebreastcancersite.com). We recently sent
a sponsored email to registered visitors to the site
alerting them to the growing but often undiagnosed
problem of breast and truncal lymphedema. The
response was overwhelming - dozens of women wrote
to thank us for giving them information that might help
them free themselves from pain. We also sponsored a
banner ad on the site in late November.

GOOD NEWS: Breast Cancer Survival Rates Are Improving |
 |
|
Although the incidence of breast cancer increased by
4% per year between 1975 and 2000, the mortality rate
for breast cancer decreased by 2.3% annually between
1990 and 2000. The five-year survival rate for women
diagnosed with breast cancer is now 87%. The
American Cancer Society says that the increase in both
incidence and survival rates were in part due to
improved screening procedures, which catch more
breast cancers at an earlier and more treatable stage.
