October is Breast Cancer Awareness month - and we're planning to spend it raising awareness about breast and truncal lymphedema as a side effect of breast cancer treatment.

In addition to attending the National Lymphedema Network International Conference in Nevada in mid-October, we'll bring our message back to the medical supply industry's largest trade show, Medtrade, where the Compressure Comfort® Bra previously won "best new product". It's a measure of how far we've come that Lesli's been invited to speak twice at this conference, and we're hoping that her presentations will help more people in the medical goods industry see how important good treatment for breast and truncal lymphedema is.

This year's Fall Medtrade is in Orlando, FL from October 25th - 28th. (See below if you'd like a FREE PASS, compliments of Bellisse!).

We're also scheduling in-services for late 2004 and early 2005, so now's a great time to arrange for Lesli to visit you and share what she's learned about diagnosing and treating breast and truncal lymphedema.

Another way we're raising awareness about breast and truncal lymphedema is by forming an alliance with Juzo, a company with a demonstrated commitment to lymphedema patients. Starting in November, Juzo sales representatives will be carrying the Bellisse® Compressure Comfort® Bra, and they'll be spreading the word about truncal lymphedema and Bellisse to retailers in selected states across the country. We are happy to be working with them!

Happy Fall from the orange, gold, and crimson mountains of Vermont!

GOOD NEWS! The New Compressure Comfort® Bra
    Preferred Dealer Program

Bellisse is proud to announce the launch of its new "Preferred Dealer Program" - a "win-win-win" for patients, retailers, and health care providers.

Bellisse® Preferred Dealers promise to keep 7 pre-selected core sizes of the Compressure Comfort® Bra in stock, so that patients who come to their store are able to try enough bras to get an accurate fit. In return for carrying the 7 core sizes, Bellisse® will waive Preferred Dealers' restocking fees. Everyone benefits: patients find comfortable compression sooner, health care providers are sure that their patients are wearing the right size, and dealers reduce returns - and get more referrals from happy customers and health care providers.

Patients and health care providers will be able to identify Preferred Dealers by a special symbol in the Dealer Listings on the Bellisse website. If you don't see a Preferred Dealer in your area, keep checking back - more and more dealers are joining our program!

If you're a retailer interested in joining the Bellisse® Preferred Dealer Program, please contact us at 1- 877-273-1683 or .

"Sticking Up" for Breast Cancer Research

This week, in New York's Time Square, the 3M Office Supplies Division will unveil the world's largest breast cancer ribbon - composed entirely of pink sticky notes. Each note represents one of 75,000 people who signed up on the 3M website to say that they're "sticking up" for breast cancer, and for each person, 3M will donate $1 to the City of Hope Cancer Center.

3M has already reached its goal for the ribbon, but you can still support breast cancer research by buying specially-marked sticky notes with the pink breast cancer symbol on them. 3M will donate up to 50 cents per package to the City of Hope. Look for them in stores...

    Flash Those Baby Blues
If pink sticky notes aren't your style, how about some nice blue jeans? On Lee Jeans' "Denim Day", you pay your boss $5 for permission to wear denim to work, and she donates the money to breast cancer research. Some companies even have dress-up contests to see who can come up with the most creative denim outfit, or wear the most denim at once. Last year, more than 1.4 million people raised over $7.4 million, making Denim Day the world's largest one-day breast cancer fundraiser.

Denim Day is tomorrow, October 8, 2004! Call 1-800-944-5633 or visit http://www.denimday.com/about.asp to learn about organizing a Denim Day at your company next year, and to see some great photos from this years' and past events.

    Lesli Reaches Out With Information
    For Vermont Breast Cancer Survivors

On September 21, Lesli hosted an informational meeting about "After Cancer Surgery - What Do You Need to Know About Lymphedema and When?". The meeting was held at Lesli's clinic in Winooski, VT, with special guest Kirsten Hanson from The Medical Store, who brought samples of compression garments and discussed compression options for lymphedema.

The meeting covered lymphedema generally, but several breast cancer survivors came to learn about the special risks they face for breast and truncal lymphdema. For Lesli, the most satisfying part of the meeting was reaching out to these women, who might not otherwise even have known that they are at risk. She hopes that with good information and careful prevention, the women she spoke with will never have to experience the pain and reduced quality of life that goes with breast and truncal lymphedema.
